Final Blog Topic:

Please tell us your summer plans, and then write about one or both of the following topics:

What is an important lesson you have learned in your life?

What is on your bucket list (things you want to do before you "kick the bucket")?

Today's Assignment: 4/24

Find an interesting article online and paraphrase 2 paragraphs from it.  If you want to paraphrase one very long paragraph, that is acceptable.

Try to pick an objective, respected source.  Wikipedia, blogs, and fan sites are not objective or respected.

Also, make sure your source article is originally written in English and from an English magazine or newspaper.

Include a citation and a reference (your reference should include the link).

See p.306-308 for a reminder about citations and references.

*Post your 2-paragraph paraphrase, citation, and reference on your blog page.

Blog Topic 5:

You just returned from spring break.  Did you learn/ observe anything new about the United States or American culture?  Did you experieince anything new and worth sharing?

If you didn't learn anything last week, think of something you have learned or experienced during your entire time here. What things about this culture are different than you thought?  What things match your expectations?

Blog Topic 4:

Ok bloggers, here is a fun topic (I hope!): Tell us about your dream job.  You could write about the job you're hoping to have soon, or a totally UNrealistic 'fun job' that you wish you could have.  What was your dream when you were a kid?  Has it changed?

For example, for a long time my dream job has been to write for National Geographic magazine. I'd love to travel and get to see and research fascinating things.

What about you? Tell us your dream job.  I look forward to learning more about you all.

Blog Topic 3: Favorite Quotes

This week is a little different.  You do not need to write a blog post.  Instead, I'd like each student to post one or two favorite quotes.  It should be a quote in English.  It can be a translation from your first language if it is a good translation that is clear in English.

Post your quote this week (March 3-7) and we'll make comments next week.

I look forward to your quotes.

Blog Topic 2: Travel

Many of us talked about loving to travel in our first blog posts. I love to travel too, so I'm offering one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite authors. Please blog about this quote. Share from your life experience; feel free to agree or disagree.

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”
—Mark Twain in The Innocents Abroad, 1857

* fatal to= if a is fatal to b, then a kills b
*need it sorely on these accounts= really need it for these reasons

Blog response due on your page by 8:00am Friday, 2/22.
